In his report to the Party's 20th National Congress, the General Secretary said, "From now on, the central task of the CPC is to unite and lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects, realizing the second centenary Goal, and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization." The explicit setting out of the Party's central tasks reflects the Party's ideals, beliefs and confidence in its path. We have always armed our minds with Marxist theory to guide our practice and advance our work. It embodies the founding aspiration, mission and sense of responsibility of the century-old Party, puts the people first, and fully demonstrates its historic initiative and commitment to planning for rejuvenation and drawing a blueprint for China's national strength. This reflects the Party's profound grasp of history and the trend of The Times, its review of historical and practical experience, its commitment to grasping the major social problems in light of its own circumstances, and its coordinated efforts to advance the five-pronged integrated plan and the Four-pronged Comprehensive strategy. We must have a deep grasp of the theoretical, historical and practical logic of the Party's central task, anchor the central task and forge ahead in a united effort to fully advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization.

Theoretical logic: The Communist Party of China constantly adjusts the central task of the party under the guidance of Marxism

Marxism is the fundamental guiding ideology for the CPC to build the Party and the country, and the theoretical basis for the CPC to constantly adjust its central tasks. In his report to the Party's 20 National Congress, the General Secretary stressed, "Practice tells us that what makes the Communist Party of China capable and why socialism with Chinese characteristics is so good is, in the final analysis, Marxism, and Marxism adapted to China and The Times." Over the past century, the Communist Party of China has adhered to the guidance of Marxism and constantly adjusted its central tasks in light of the development of The Times and social progress.  In light of the changes in the domestic and international situation, the development of The Times and social progress, the Party's central task for the new era and the new journey was set. Social practice is a step forward, theoretical innovation is further, theoretical armed with further. Only by proceeding from reality and constantly readjust the Party's central task under the guidance of Marxism can we have a deep and accurate understanding of the laws governing the Communist Party of China, the laws governing socialist construction, and the laws governing the development of human society. Only in this way can we remain firm in our ideals and beliefs, adhere to the scientific guiding ideology, and keep moving in the right direction in a complex and changing situation. Only in this way can we fully build a modern socialist country and fully advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Historical logic: The Communist Party of China from the background of The Times to determine the central task of the Party

To seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation has been the original aspiration and mission of the Communist Party of China for over a century. The Communist Party of China has always kept to The Times, accurately analyzed the major problems facing society, firmly grasped the Party's central task and the initiative of history, and united and led the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in overcoming one difficulty after another, winning one victory after another, and achieving one great achievement after another. During the Great Revolution, the Communist Party of China established the central task of "toppling the great powers and removing the warlords". During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Party promptly adjusted its central tasks and began to independently lead the agrarian revolution, armed struggle and the construction of base areas. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Party accurately understood and grasped the major contradictions in society, and set the central task of establishing an anti-Japanese national united front and bringing down Japanese imperialism. During the War of Liberation, the Party set the central task of "toppling Chiang Kai-shek and liberating the whole of China", overthrew the three mountains of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat capitalism, and founded New China. After the founding of New China, the Party led the people in transforming from the New Democratic Revolution to the socialist revolution, completing the socialist revolution, advancing socialist construction, and achieving the most extensive and profound social transformation in the history of the Chinese nation. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee in 1978, our Party made a scientific analysis of the principal contradiction in the primary stage of socialism in China and made it clear that the principal contradiction facing our society was that between the people's ever-growing material and cultural needs and backward social production. To this end, our Party made a scientific decision to focus on economic development and vigorously develop the productive forces. Over the past four decades and more of reform and opening up, our Party has firmly focused on the central task of economic development, united and led the people of all ethnic groups in China in achieving the transformation from standing up to becoming rich, and forging ahead toward the goal of becoming strong.

Practical logic: The central task of the Communist Party of China to establish a new journey in the new era is based on reality

The general secretary pointed out that "the great changes in the new era over the past decade are of landmark significance in the history of the Party, the new China, reform and opening up, the development of socialism and the development of the Chinese nation." During the decade of the New era, tremendous historical changes have taken place in Chinese society. We have solved many problems that we had long wanted to solve but had not, managed many major events that we had wanted to accomplish but had not, and achieved a series of major achievements that attracted worldwide attention. Especially in the past five years since the 19th National Congress of the CPC, the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has become that between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life. The CPC Central Committee with comrades at its core coordinated the overall strategy for the great renewal of the Chinese nation and the profound changes unseen in the world in a century, accurately grasped the major problems facing society, "held a bull by the nose," united and led the people of all ethnic groups in effectively responding to various risks and challenges, and pushed forward socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. Five years after the transformation of the major social problem, the 20th National Congress of the CPC stated that, from now on, the central task of the CPC is to unite and lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects, realizing the second centenary Goal, and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization. This is a grand blueprint formulated by the CPC Central Committee based on its scientific judgment of the domestic and international situation, with building China into a great modern socialist country and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as the main task, and based on China's reality. In the face of thorns and bright road forward, we will walk together with wind and rain, "danger" and "opportunity" symbiosis. On the new journey, in the face of risks and challenges, we must remain firm in our Party's central task, strengthen our historical confidence, strengthen our historical initiative, and firmly grasp the following major principles: First, we must uphold and strengthen the Party's overall leadership; second, we must adhere to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics; third, we must adhere to the philosophy of people-centered development; fourth, we must deepen reform and opening up; and fifth, we must carry forward the spirit of struggle. Only in this way can we strengthen the ambition, backbone and confidence of the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups in China, be unconvinced, fear no evil spirits or pressure, advance in the face of difficulties, overcome all difficulties, risks and challenges on the road ahead, open new frontiers for our cause through tenacious struggle, and push forward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in an all-round way with Chinese-style modernization.
