We will build a strong manufacturing country and make manufacturing more solid, better and stronger

From 2012 to 2021, industrial added value increased from 20.9 trillion yuan to 37.3 trillion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 6.3 percent. The value added of the manufacturing sector increased from 16.98 trillion yuan to 31.4 trillion yuan, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the global market, up from about 20 percent. 500 kinds of major industrial products, more than 40% of Chinese product output ranks world first...... In the series of press conferences on the theme of "China in this Decade", a series of inspiring achievements witnessed the steady growth in quantity and significant improvement in quality of China's manufacturing industry, a more sound industrial system, a more complete industrial chain, and a new level of comprehensive strength, innovation and competitiveness.

The manufacturing industry is the main body of the national economy, is the foundation of the country, the instrument of national rejuvenation, the foundation of strong country. History and practice show that there is no strong manufacturing industry, there is no strong country and nation. It calls for "making the real economy, especially the manufacturing sector, better and stronger", "building internationally competitive advanced manufacturing clusters, and building independent, controllable, safe and efficient industrial and supply chains that serve the whole country". To make a country truly strong, we must lay a solid foundation for manufacturing in a major country and stimulate a strong driving force for scientific and technological innovation.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Party, China's manufacturing industry development has achieved historical achievements and has undergone historical transformation. From 400,000 industrial enterprises above the scale to more than 40,000 "specialized and special" small and medium-sized enterprises, the comprehensive strength of Chinese manufacturing industry has continued to improve, and the vitality and strength of market bodies have been increasing; The production and sales of new energy vehicles ranked first in the world for seven consecutive years, and the shipment of 5G mobile phones reached 266 million in 2021. The quality of China's manufacturing supply system has been significantly improved, constantly meeting people's needs for a better life. From the large aircraft, manned space, power equipment, high-grade CNC machine tools, and other fields to realize innovation breakthrough, to 2021 key industrial enterprises key process numerical control rate, research and development of digital design tools penetration reached 55.3% and 74.7% respectively, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing production mode in our country, the development of high-end intelligent green had made new achievements... We have opened a new chapter in building China into a strong manufacturer, laying a more solid material foundation for completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and embarking on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country.

At present, Chinese manufacturing industry is in the critical period of structural adjustment, quality improvement and efficiency improvement, and also in the critical stage of becoming stronger by the great, climb over the obstacles. Looking at the trend, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation form a historic intersection with the high-quality development of Chinese economy; In terms of weaknesses, compared with the advanced world level, China's manufacturing industry still lags behind in terms of independent innovation capacity, resource utilization efficiency, industrial structure, informatization level, quality and efficiency. To fulfill the strategic task of transforming Chinese manufacturing from big to strong, we must strengthen top-level design and forward-looking deployment, continue to promote the high-end, intelligent and green transformation of the manufacturing industry, and continuously enhance the development vitality and international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry.

The core of manufacturing is innovation and mastering key core technologies. At present, the R&D investment intensity of China's manufacturing industry has increased from 0.85% in 2012 to 1.54% in 2021, and the average R&D intensity of specialized and special new "little giant" enterprises has reached 10.3%. More than 570 industrial enterprises have been listed as the top 2,500 global R&D investors. At the same time, China has set up 23 national manufacturing innovation centers and national and local manufacturing innovation centers, and supported the development of 125 public service platforms for industrial and technological infrastructure, significantly improving the supply of generic technologies. Only by putting innovation at the core of manufacturing development can we make China's manufacturing industry more robust and sustainable.

Not long ago, international railway Union issued the implementation of high-speed railway design infrastructure standards and power supply standards established by our country, filling the international gap in related fields. Standing at a new historical starting point, sticking to the new path of industrialization with Chinese characteristics and building China into a manufacturing power that leads the development of the world's manufacturing industry will lay a solid foundation for improving the overall national strength, ensuring national security and building a modern socialist power, and build strategic advantages for future development.
