Since globalization cannot go back, it can only go forward. Since cooperation and exchanges between countries cannot afford to be cut off again, there is a need for greater connectivity and connectivity. Connectivity is at the heart of globalization. The BRI is committed to promoting policy, infrastructure, unimpeded trade, financial and people-to-people connectivity. It has received positive and widespread response because the BRI itself and its implementation respond to the actual needs of globalization and the development of relevant countries.
The Belt and Road Initiative is a great initiative of China in international relations. Since President Xi Jinping put forward the "One Belt And One Road" initiative in 2013, the initiative has been actively responded to and participated in by many countries and international organizations, and the circle of friends and partners of the "One Belt And One Road" has been growing. Since then, the "One Belt And One Road" initiative has gone through a process from overall layout to implementation, and the practice of cooperative construction has gradually moved to a deeper level, the practical space has been further expanded, and the quality of development has been continuously improved. Today, we can say without exaggeration that the "One Belt And One Road" initiative and construction practices are increasingly becoming a world-class topic and phenomenon.
First, good progress has been made in practice. Since the inception of the "One Belt And One Road" initiative, China has signed more than 200 cooperation agreements with more than 170 countries and international organizations, and launched more than 2,000 projects, making high-quality progress in the joint development of the "One Belt And One Road". From 2013 to 2019, China's trade in goods with countries along the "One Belt And One Road" routes exceeded 7.8 trillion US dollars, and its direct investment in these countries exceeded 110 billion US dollars.
Secondly, it has attracted global attention and become a hot topic of discussion in international public opinion. The first One Belt And One Road Forum for International Cooperation held in May 2017 was attended by heads of state or government of 29 countries and more than 1,600 representatives from over 140 countries and 80 international organizations. Later, in April 2019, the second One Belt And One Road Forum for International Cooperation was held again. In June 2020, the "One Belt And One Road" High-Level Video Conference on International Cooperation was held in Beijing. Over the past years, the "One Belt And One Road" project, first initiated in China, has spread across countries and regions, different stages of economic and social development and diverse civilizations, and has increasingly become an open and inclusive platform for cooperation and a global public good jointly created by all parties. Important resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council have also incorporated the content of the "One Belt And One Road" construction.
Finally, it has aroused the enthusiastic research and dissemination of academic opinion circles, and the relevant theoretical achievements continue to emerge. Among them, both the international scholars around the "area" related to the history, geography, economy, culture and other topics to discuss, there is also a policy researcher around discuss sharing research decision problem in practice, in the policy unicom communication, facilities, trade flow, financing, and mutually and so on various practice in the field of research has formed a fruitful results.
The world has become more and more closely connected, and mankind has become a community with a shared future. Just as any country or region should seek its own economic and social development, no country or region can develop independently in a state of separation from each other, so it is bound to be inseparable from globalization. But globalization does not come naturally, nor is it an unfettered process; Nor will globalization automatically benefit all countries and all people. Globalisation needs to be nurtured, patched, improved and maintained.
After the outbreak of the international financial crisis in 2008, although an anti-globalization trend has emerged, it has not been able to prevent the continued development of globalization. The populism, protectionism and unilateralism of some countries have not been universally recognized or imitated by other countries. The practice of creating trade frictions and even fighting a trade war is not only harmful to ourselves, but also causes criticism and resistance. The COVID-19 epidemic that has been spreading around the world since 2020, while encouraging inward-looking tendencies in some countries, cannot stop the process of globalization. The disruption of supply chains during the epidemic, and the disruption and loss caused by the blockage of the Suez Canal, are negative proof that globalization cannot be reversed, and that globalization remains fragile. This vulnerability is reflected both in the lack of sufficient communication of will to cooperate and in the huge gaps in the infrastructure that connects the world.
Since globalization cannot go back, it can only go forward. Since cooperation and exchanges between countries cannot afford to be cut off again, there is a need for greater connectivity and connectivity. Connectivity is the core of globalization and the weak link of GVCs. It needs to be improved through the development of trans-regional infrastructure. The reason why the One Belt And One Road initiative has received a positive and extensive response is that the initiative itself and its implementation have responded to the actual needs of globalization and the development of relevant countries.
One Belt And One Road involves a large number of countries and third parties along the Belt and Road, and involves a large number of projects under construction or expected to be implemented. It needs to overcome difficulties and obstacles caused by many problems, such as economic system, policy concepts, cultural traditions, factor endowments and so on. Therefore, "One Belt And One Road" construction is not only a problem of infrastructure project construction, but also faces many tasks in other fields.
Extensive consultations, between the good news is that the construction project of the early results look, academia, and the full communication, to provide us with all the new things and new experience and definitely helps us to seek common ground while putting aside differences, to form a new understanding, forge a new consensus, so as to better promote the construction of "area" all the way to go deep solid, steady zhiyuan.
